Legendary house music label Quark Records blesses us with a paramount remix by Josh Milan (member of legendary group Blaze who released some of their unforgettable early music through the label) of "This is love" by Mark P. Adler and Kira Semanas, a song taken from the sumptuous chill-out album "Summer all over again" released in late 2011. Josh Milan reworks this wonderful song into a gentle four-to-the-floor affair, with a smoothly thumpin' backdrop leading the way for Kira Semanas beautiful haunting vocals and marvelous keys. Gotta Keep Faith Records return to Spirit of House with "Change" by Bhaku Jr., an amazing production featuring a beautiful Spanish guitar by Bra Thamz and the inimitable deeply rooted vocals of Maxwell (all three hail from South Africa). Bhaku Jr. himself contributes the grandiose 'Original Voodoo Mix' of "Change" which puts the acoustic guitar and vocals center stage, and the 'Voodoo Jamsoul Remix' which is a hypnotizing afro-deep re-imagination of the song. Next is a selection of top-notch remixes by the likes of The Jersey Maestros, Distant People, Spiritual Blessings, Georg Neufeld, Berny and DJ Umbi all adding their signature deep/soulful touch, making it next to impossible to pick a favorite version. |
