Chicago soul legend Peven Everett is about to take over dance floors with his latest offering "Show you why" on Tribe Records, a funk soaked bass heavy production that is remorselessly groovin' from beginning to the end. The remixes are coutesy of Zepherin Saint who emphasizes the funky vibes and enriches the song with fantastic horns, keys and chords to take it to a whole new level. Back in 2003, Look At You Records released the wonderful "Mala idea" by La Casa Del Ritmo (aka Los Amigos Invisibles), featuring outstanding vocals by Mariju Muci. Now almost seven years later, this classic returns with incredible mixes by Guy Robin who has been working on them for several months - and the time was definitely well invested !! If we didn't tell otherwise, you would swear these mixes date back to the 70's era of Disco as they bring back the timeless, delicious sounds that define the greatest dance music era of all time with their masterly orchestration... Back in September of 2006, Shines Records released the gorgeous "Sunrise" by Genetix, featuring sultry vocals by Shanchoy. Now the label is about to drop an essential remix package, with DaSoul & Fabry Diglio turning out a deeply rumblin' remix fueled with celestial keys and chords, while Nastee Nev gets as deep as it gets on his hypnotic dub laced with atmospheric melodies. Liquideep contribute two mixes, with their 'BBB Remix' being deep and mesmerizing while the 'Deepfro Mix' is a laidback rework. C.9ine goes orbital on his melodious interpretation, while Ronnie Ron's dub is a deep moody affair. Also included is the 'Unreleased Mix', a funk drenched, bumpin' rework of the now classic original version. |

The wait for the Groove Junkies' re-designed debut artist album titled "In the Zone" will soon be over, featuring selected songs from the original album concept, brand new productions as well as updated versions of selected classics. Two samplers will precede the albums May release, with the first one including a chunky afro-tech re-rub of the title track that is a sure-fire winner. The utterly soulful "Far away" features heartfelt vocals by TC Moses and glorious keys by Cory Allen, while "The white light" continues the soulful path with a smooth afro-soca groove that is topped with the unique haunting vocals of Alexander Sky and lush chords. Finally the 2002 debut MoreHouse release "Inside my soul" featuring amazing vocals from Solomon Henderson returns in a masterful, Philly soul inspired incarnation. Reel People and singer Choklate team up on "The tea", and what a musical bliss the outcome of this collaboration is!! They bless us with a phenomal funky discofied gem, with Choklate impressing with her outstanding vocal peformance and powerful lyrics. The remxies are courtesy of The Layabouts and Manoo who take the song to the next level, with The Layabouts going deep on their mesmerizing interpretation fueled with contaminous keys and chords (a reprise is included too), while Manoo's remix features lush keys and jazzy piano over a groovy backdrop. Not to be missed. |

Tony Vass "Fly me higher" (Duffnote Records CD Promo)

"Fly me higher" by Tony Vass was one of the highlights of Duffnote's "2009 WMC Sampler", now this retro-esque 80's styled Disco-Funk groover featuring outstanding vocals by Roxane Lebrasse gets a full release. The remixes are courtesy of Danny Jones & Richard Earnshaw whose '80 Remode' is laced with old school synths and moog hooks over a stompin' backdrop, while Tony Vass' 'Boogie Mix' drops the tempo a bit and brings back memories of that unique 80's boogie sound. Last but not least, Richard Earnshaw delivers a classic interpretation which combines the vocals with a gorgeous jazzy piano and a smoothly thumpin' musical backing. |

Soul Heaven not only just recently celebrated their 10th anniversary with a spectacular show at their spiritual home Ministry of Sound in January (the line up included Louie Vega, Phil Asher, Neil Pierce, Aaron Ross, Jocelyn Brown, Barbara Tucker and more...), they also released the essential "10 Years of Soul Heaven" 3xCD compiled and mixed by none other than the legendary Louie Vega. The three discs take you on a musical journey through time, with disc one being all about the cutting edge, fresh new sounds, while disc two reflects the vocal house sound that Soul Heaven is famous for. Finally, disc three is a respectful and nostalgic tribute to 10 years of Soul Heaven by Louie Vega, the resident DJ's and owner Fleur Woolford, who all choose classic tracks from the Soul Heaven era. |

It has taken a while, but finally Mustafa's "Sao Salvador" gets a full release through Stalwart Records. Originally featured on his album "Ginga Brasileira" in a beautiful 'Afro House Mix', this release bring together remixes from UPZ (previously available through compilations on soWHAT Records), Deep Josh and Mustafa himself. The marvelously instrumentated 'UPZ soWHAT Mix' is laidback and groovy, whit the 'UPZ soWHAT Dub' fortifying the groove for serious dance floor heat. Deep Josh's dub is peak time heaven thanks to fierce synths and a contagious backdrop, while Mustafa's 'Deep' mixes take you on a journey through mellow deep house. A masterful reprise completes the package. |

Sunlightsquare launch their Latin Combo project with the first single "I believe in miracles" - a cover of the timeless Jackson Sisters classic - taken from their forthcoming album "Havana Central". The uplifting, sun drenched original version oozes with authentic Cuban vibes and will make you yearning for the other songs from the album. The 'Broken Party Animal Mix' by Mustafa and Claudio Passavanti turns the song into a marvelous jazz/broken beat affair, while on the electro-synth laced 'Club Mix' they give it as smokin' deep feel.
