In April and August respectively, we introduced you to the first two releases by Andy Compton and the Sowetan Onesteps, a project born during a tour of Andy Compton in South Africa. Now the third single "A fathers love" from the highly anticipated forthcoming album is here, and what a musical treat it is... Most definitely the gentle yet hypnotizing afro-percussive rhythms along with the sweet soulful guitars, classy piano and Mpho Diloro's one-of-a-kind spoken word are guaranteed to make you yearn. From The Rurals comes a super phat 'Dub Edit' which, beyond doubt, will send shivers down your spine. Essential.

Undoubtedly, this superb production by Joe Flame is guaranteed to put a spell on you through the precious jazzy keys, tempting chords, Joe Flame's unmistakable emotive vocals and the inexorably thumpin' deep rhythms. The alternate 'D#Sharp Remix' fuses Joe Flame's unrivaled vocals with beautiful background vocal chants, illustrious keys, empyreal synth melodies and a fervid organic backdrop. In other words, "All the time" is a top-notch soulful gem by no means to be missed... Nuff said.

In February, we were celebrating the release of "No regrets", a truly uplifting slice of contemporary Disco by L'amour Disco (the pseudonym of London based producer/session musician Markus Williams), now courtesy of La Dance Music come fresh remixes taking this gem featuring inspiring vocals by Chi-Town songstress Andrea Love to a whole new level. BKT (Brian 'Keys' Tharme) contributes a fervid yet soulful latinesque rendition laced with grandiose jazzy keys guaranteed to cast a spell on you, from Tekky Vibez comes a pair of sure-fire peak time bangers, Neon Lights serves a superb Disco-House rework of the original version, and finally Geekski drops a glorious 80's boogie inspired workout.

"Lost in music" by Sister Sledge (a 1979 single taken from their album "We are family") took over dance floors globally when the extended Nile Rodgers remix was released in 1984. Soon to be released on Deep Nota Records is a marvelous remake by house music diva Chanelle, among the mixes will be this jaw-dropping re-imagination by Soulbridge (Gigi Frassanito) which combines Chanelle's beautiful emotive rendition of the lyrics with an infectious utterly funkalicious backdrop, wicked guitar riffs and illustrious keys. UK soulful house music pioneers Groove Odyssey launch their brand new "House Legends" compilation series, with the first installment being compiled and mixed by Teddy Douglas and DJ Spen, members of legendary house music production outfit The Basement Boys who have created some of soulful house music's most memorable classics under their own name, under disguises such as Those Guys and Sublevel, as well as for the likes of Ultra Nate, Ann Nesby, Jasper Street Company or Crystal Waters to name just a few. When providing feedback to the label, we just used one word: masterpiece. That's how good this latest production entitled "God lives in me" by Two 4 Soul aka DJ Jacko and Peppe Citarella which features South African singer/songwriter Nontu Xulu is. This inspirational tune is as soulful as it gets, with the 'Original Demo Mix' being on a glorious organic tip, perfectly showcasing the sweet deeply felt vocals of Nontu Xulu. The 'Two 4 Soul Vocal Mix' is an uplifting hand-clapping, foot-stomping gospel tinged affair, while the hypnotizing 'Two 4 Soul Sunday Morning Dub' is the perfect prime time weapon. The remixes, a collaboration of DJ Spen with David Anthony and Bennett Holland, take you straight to the church thanks to illustrious keys, glamorous organ solo and spell binding rhythms which harmonize perfectly with amazing vocals.

There ain't not stoppin' for up and rising South African label Soulful Sentiments Records whose latest release is guaranteed to stand the test of time. The paramount "Origin of Deep" compilation features both vocal and instrumental productions from Deepconsoul, Sipho Ngubane and Deejay 2MI, the list of vocalists is truly illustrious and includes Bukiwe Zinganto, Holi M, Darian Crouse, Dindy, Komplexity, K Modi, Grace and Marlulu. Some of the twelve songs featured on "Origin of Deep" have been previously released, others are brand new; to cut right to the chase, each of these songs keeps the vibe soulful and melodious, oozing with that beloved unique sound only the motherland has to offer.
