Zepherin Saint returns with "Midnight mawal" which is inspired by his nomadic journeys through North Africa and the Middle East where he recorded native musicians and global artists to feature in his music. This production is simply outstanding and features incredible vocals by Mohanned Mcallah and keys by Yoel Ben Yehuda over Afro-Cuban inspired rhythms. Add ingenious mixes from up and rising Jose Marquez who gives the track a more tribal feel to the package and you have another eternal release from Tribe Records that is not to be missed. |

When this landed in my mailbox earlier this week, I got hooked the very first moment by the relentless rhythms, thrilling melodies and meaningful lyrics... Groove Junkies are on top of their game here, teaming up with spoken word artist Louis Hale, songstress Peggi Blu and the one and only Solara for "Rhythm talks", a smooth yet vibrant jazz drenched production on a classic tip. The infectious 'GJ Deep Afro Mix' features atmospheric melodies over ruthless afro-deep rhythms, while the 'GJ Mo Hump Mix' turns up the heat with intoxicating drums and a freaky acid bassline. Christopher Wilde takes us on a journey to deepest afro-jazz territory on his spell binding remix, while Angell Vittore & RJ Spinher take the track to the main room with their techy workout. Timeless and essential. |

Do you remember the first ever GoGo Music release? It was "The way love goes" by Dara Band, featuring vocals by Michael Procter which was released in November 2001. To get all of us in the mood to celebrate the label's 10th anniversary later this year, they bless us with incredible remixes of one of the label's defining releases: "All this love for you", a collaboration between Detroit based poetry artist Carolyn Ferrari - better known as Diamondancer - and label head Ralf GUM. The remixes are courtesy of Ralf GUM who reworks his own track into a deep hypnotic thumper using afrotastic rhythms as playground for Diamondancer's unmistakable vocal stylings and delectable keys, and Raw Artistic Soul (aka Phil Kullmann) who delivers an ingenious deep soul-tech interpretation laced with freaky keys making this something truly special. |

Next are superb remixes courtesy of the Dolls Combers and Jonny Montana taking the song to the next level, leaving you with the hard (not to say impossible) task to choose between three equally fantastic versions: the Dolls Combers serve a sublime jazz-infused interpretation, while Jonny Montana's precious rework oozes with a wonderful laidback feel. A musical masterpiece that markes the next chapter in the saga of timeless Sophisticado releases. |
