About a year ago, South Africa's Tshegofatso Ramotshabi Molebatsi under his Hitman on Set alias released his debut artist album "SoulRefined" on selected online music platforms, thanks to our friends at Una Mas Recordings this marvelous masterly crafted album now gets a global release. "SoulRefined" is soulful house music with a twist of neo-soul, influences of soul ballads and touches of smooth jazz, featuring collaborations with an illustrious list of artists such as Donald Sheffey, Chappell, MJ White, La Veda, Stan Johnson, Zanya Laurence, Sarah Scott, Ali M, Harmony Blackwell and Charlie. Quite simply, from beginning to the end, this is a blissful journey through nothing but the best in soulful vocal house music the motherland has to offer. A masterpiece.

Since we heard about this project for the first time a couple of months ago, we've been eagerly awaiting the day when it arrives in our mailbox. This day finally came this week, and beyond doubt it was worth all the wait... To make it short, "Play" by renowned DJ/producer Evan Landes (Groove Junkies), up-and-rising multi-instrumentalist Michele Chiavarini and legendary songstress Carolyn Harding is a soulful masterpiece made for eternity. First we have the original mix by Groove Junkies which combines Carolyn Harding's unrivaled seductive vocals with warm atmospheric pads, lush synths and a smooth yet deeply groovin' backdrop. Second is Michele Chiavarini's masterly orchestrated soul/jazz/funk interpretation which takes Carolyn Harding's amazing vocals to a whole new level. Or, in other words, "Play" is a timeless jewel guaranteed to send shivers down your spine...

DJ/producer DJ Oji and house music diva Carolyn Victorian can look back at an impressive list of collaborations such as "I'm feelin' you", "Little black samba", "He's my DJ" and "Dance the night away", now they reunite for "Can't stop lovin' you" a truly inspiring and mesmerizing soulful gem oozing with the inimitable style of DJ Oji and the incomparable vocals of Carolyn Victorian as a relentlessly thumpin' backing leads the way for tantalizing keys and chords, with Carolyn Victorian providing the icing on the cake with her stirring vocal performance. The 'Soul Funky' throws in some extra funky ingredients, while on the 'AfroLove Mix' DJ Oji is joined by DJ Up, together they intensify the vibe to the max with afro-tribal rhythms and spacey synth melodies. Finally, MuSol contributes an enthralling deepened take with his 'STM Motor Mix' laced with acidic elements and luscious keys.

Beginning of last year, South Africa based Soul Candi Records released the wonderful "Tears of the ocean" which features the tempting vocals of Rona Ray (Veronika Skhorokhod) and was produced by GenVee (Tshepang Lengana). To cut right to the chase, Kings of Groove from Ibiza have licensed this beauty and are about to release a stellar selection of brand new remixes from the likes of TekniQ, John Lundun and Darque and a previously unreleased mix by V.underground (who mixed and mastered the original release) all adding their signature deep/soulful touch, making it next to impossible to pick a favorite version. A highly recommended soulful gem by no means to be missed...

HSR Records are going from strength to strength, once more blessing us with a soulful masterpiece having timeless written all over. The inspiring "On tonite" is produced by Soulbridge and features the passionate vocal stylings of Josiah Ruff alongside a grandiose orchestration composed of splendorous horns, glamorous jazzy piano and exquisite keys all perfectly arranged over an infectious funk soaked backdrop - sheer musical bliss. Guido P, Ondagroove and SoulFunktion are the chosen ones to deliver the remixes of this gem - to cut right to the chase, they all add their distinctive truly magical soulful/deep touch to the song, making it next to impossible to pick a favorite versionĀ from this stellar truly eclectic selection of interpretations.

C-Major (SA), the team of Nqobile Ntlabathi, Phiwokuhle Madondo, Ndlelenhle Jiyane, Phindile Shoba and Mlungisi Zuma, return to Atal Music with the superb "Funny Faces EP" (if you missed their previous releases on the label entitled "Another level" and "The Mind Massage EP" go check them out) which is loaded with four deepalicious gems by no means to be missed. "Funny faces" and "Heaven heaven" are truly mesmerizing and spacy instrumentals oozing with glorious atmospheric melodies, while "Have you heard" featuring sexy vocals by Sky P (Kwanele Mabaso) and "Running away" featuring sultry vocals by Faye Wonder are breathtaking afro-deep vocal jewels having timeless written all over.

Back in 1979, Machine released their self-titled debut album which included a song that nowadays is considered one of the greatest dance songs ever: "There but for the grace of god go I". Fast forward to 2015, and we are blessed with this marvelous Big Moses (Moise Laporte) produced re-imagination of this unforgettable truly seminal classic which stays true and respectful to the original yet gives the song a unique contemporary four-to-the-floor feel guaranteed to send shivers down your spine thanks to an utterly infectious funked-up backdrop and enticing keys and chords, not to forget to mention the phenomenal truly breathtaking rendition of the lyrics by The S.O.S.
